About Shane Jett

A NEW CONSERVATIVE LEADER FOR THE MANY, NOT THE PRIVILEGED FEW

A Fifth-Generation Oklahoman:

Shane’s family has lived in Central Oklahoma for over 100 years. He was born in December 1974 and raised in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. The son of a mechanic, Shane grew up working in his father’s shop and worked in construction with his uncles. Representative Jett is no stranger to hard work. He worked his way through college and helped in his father’s small business. He also earned a certificate in accounting from Gordon Cooper Technology Center.

Political Experience:

Representative Jett won the election to the Oklahoma House of Representatives for District 27 in 2004, becoming the first Republican to hold that House seat in state history. His hard work and a clean, positive, conservative message focused on Oklahoma’s working families have seen him re-elected twice by historic margins. Shane never forgot the hardworking people who sent him to the Capitol.

Conservative:

While in the Legislature, Shane focused on job growth across Oklahoma by working to ensure a robust economic environment for energy, agriculture, tourism and manufacturing industries, fighting for thriving businesses and stronger schools. Shane is a passionate and active legislator on issues of international trade and economic development. He is a vocal advocate for our men and women in the military and their families, and for the growing population of veterans across Oklahoma. Shane Jett is pro-life, pro-family, pro-veteran, pro-2nd Amendment and pro-business.

Oklahoma Baptist University graduate:

In addition to his International Business Degree from OBU, he has received a certificate in stock market operations from the Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets while in Brazil and an Executive Education Certificate from the Kennedy School of Government on Legislative Leadership at Harvard University. Shane began his career far from the halls of the Oklahoma State House by working with an Oklahoma business consulting and market research firm in Brazil.

A Man of Faith:

Shane, while living in Brazil, taught Sunday School at a Baptist Church and worked with American Missionaries. He also has been active in many mission activities including international Bible distributions ministry since 21 years old and has spoken in churches across central Oklahoma. Shane, Ana and his children attend the Evangelistic Center Church.

A Businessman:

Shane advises businesses, Native American tribes, non-profits, universities and colleges on both international and domestic business challenges in marketing, management, recruiting, financing, logistics, import/export and project management. He secured a supply of seed stock for a bio fuels start up company, creating job opportunities in the bio fuels industry and adding another cash crop for rural Oklahoma farmers.

Military Service:

In 2008, Shane was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy Reserve. A retired Navy Commander suggested he join the Navy as a parallel service with his legislative duties. Joining the military fulfilled a dream that he had since high school. The military training and briefings have provided him a great prospective and insight of the situation around the world and its effect on our homeland security.

Legislative Experience:

Shane has served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives for six years and he serves as Chairman of the International Relations and Tourism Committee and Chairman of the Joint Committee on International Trade. Shane is a member of Energy and Utility Regulations Committee and member of Appropriations and Budget on General Government and Transportation. Shane is also the founding Co-Chair of the Native American Caucus of the Oklahoma Legislature. He is dedicated in finding common-sense solutions to controversial issues. He is not afraid to take a stand on tough issues and works tirelessly across party lines.

An Educator:

Fluent in three languages, Shane taught professionally for over five years teaching international executives and university bound students and holding professional memberships with NAFSA: National Association of International Educators and Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). For over a decade, Shane has lectured in the United States and Brazil speaking on topics including international relations, tribal issues, public policy, immigration reform, international business, a vision for Oklahoma and United States foreign policy.

Community Leader:

Shane continues involvement with the McLoud, Shawnee, Tecumseh and American Indian chambers of commerce. He is also active in the InfraGard, a partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for critical infrastructure protection. Shane has a certificate in Counter Intelligence Training from the FBI.

Family Man:

Shane is married to Ana Carolina Gomes Jett of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Ana worked as a public school teacher in Brazil and worked with children with disabilities in US. Ana was proud to become a U.S. Citizen in 2007. The Jetts now have two beautiful daughters, Raquel (5) and Esther (1).
